Hair, MakeUp, Perfume!

When you are done with your hair, makeup, one thing that completes the ritual of ‘getting ready’ is a nice fragrance. I for one cannot leave my house without putting on some type of fragrance regardless of where I’m going, even if it’s a scented lotion. While I’m out, the last thing I want to do is offend someone as I pass them by.

Maybe you’ve had a week like mine: steady work at one job and three deadlines for two freelance clients keeping you at the computer until at least ten o’clock each night. Emails from friends — the emails you really do want to respond to — pile up until they pass above the screen’s window and into the island of lost correspondence. Mornings so rushed you pick up something from the bedroom floor to toss on and hope cute shoes will make it all right as you dash out the door.

So what do you do? You reach for your “go-to” perfume, of course.

For me, my go-to perfume is a fragrance I can grab and spritz on without thinking. It won’t interfere with your day, won’t offend, and goes with everything. It doesn’t have to be an highly priced bottle either, because some discount fragrances fit the bill just as well.

Having several fragrances for different occasions and seasons is the way to go. For instance, I use a very light fragrance for the spring that has the sweetest smell and it suits the weather amazingly! During summer, wear a fresh perfume and something more sweet during the winter. For instance a perfume like D&G ‘Light Blue’ is a very fresh and soft summery scent, while Chloé’s ‘Elle’ is a stronger and more solid scent that warms the cold days of winter.

I do realize that some women do have their “favorite scent” and there is nothing wrong with having that one perfume that you love, but a little variety never hurt anyone, and you should have a few different perfumes to choose from for evening and day looks.

Having made the most of many different fragrances over the years, I’ve learned that it is not always necessary to splurge on the most expensive of perfumes when there are other essentials that need to get covered. So reaching for a less expensive bottle so that I can try different fragrances has worked well for me. This way, I can try new fragrances and can easily own several ones without feeling guilty about going over the budget. It’s also a great way to test out a perfume to see if you like it.

Do you have a favorite “Go-To” Perfume? What is your favorite Fragrance?
